Original layout and details of the late 19th century structure suggest the original use as a boarding house with commercial space on the first floor and social club in the basement.
The design integrates three concepts: memory, ecology and modernism to give a full range of experiences from selective historical restoration, advantageous orientation and views to both the urban and natural environments, and from innovative ideas, materials and technology to satisfy both energy efficiency and contemporary sensibility.
