Hambones Restaurant & Pub

4207 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA - 1998

City of Pittsburgh Historic Preservation Award

The neighborhood restaurant boasts popular German-American cuisine. The program called for the installation of an open wood and glass storefront that would be more inviting to families.

Taking cues from the brick detailing of the upper floors, the renovation includes the cleaning of brickwork, new windows, new storefront and a new fascia board that incorporates a neon box exposing only the neon.

The bold colors and wood details reinforce the somber character of the building and the client’s desire to reflect the ‘robust’ cuisine offered in the restaurant.
