The rehab of the 1874 Neo-Classical firehouse divides the space into two parts: an artist/living studio and a rental office accessed from the existing side entrance.
The addition of a mezzanine adds office area. Minimum head height required a mezzanine plate thickness no deeper than five inches. Steel structural beams incorporate recessed lighting. Steel columns support both the mezzanine and the jacked-up roof joists.
Receding walls visually expand the narrow vestibule. New skylights echo the original hay loft openings.
